Introducing Our New District Manager

Dan Efseaff PRPD District Manager

Dan Efseaff joined Paradise Recreation and Park District in mid-June as the District Manager. He previously worked for the City of Chico as the Parks and Natural Resource Manager and led the Yolo County Resource Conservation District as Executive Director. He worked over 10 years as a restoration ecologist and developing innovative approaches to riparian restoration in California’s Central Valley. With his wife, Susan, and four daughters, Dan is starting a new chapter with the PRPD. Dan enjoys outdoor sports and teaches both whitewater and sea kayaking. He looks forward to working with PRPD citizens, Board, and staff.

Welcome to the Fall/Winter Activity Guide 2017/2018

After a long, hot summer, fall sneaks in slowly. The mornings are a little cooler, the colors on the leaves start to turn. Change is coming to your Paradise Recreation and Park District (PRPD) too! In the summer, Mike Trinca retired after an extraordinary 44 years with PRPD and over 2 decades as District Manager. Over that time, the District has added a number of properties and served the community with programs, events, and providing picturesque places where citizens can relax, play, swim, ice skate, --or even get married. We are proud of the facilities and programs that we provide and want to make sure that these efforts continue and we continue to be a significant part of people’s lives on the Ridge and beyond. Like many local districts and businesses, PRPD struggles with increasing costs and unfunded regulatory requirements that outpace our revenues. We want to continue to serve our community with high quality programs and parks, and expand into new areas; however long term demands out-pace our projected revenues. Over the past year, the District has dropped a significant number of full time staff and is in the process of reorganizing. Despite these changes, we are optimistic about the PRPD’s future, and we are busy reinventing the organization and will aggressively seek opportunities to become more efficient. As we move into 2018, we will nurture new ideas, assemble a robust portfolio of programs, and strengthen our partnerships. We know that parks and programs make life better and we look forward to serving you. We need your help, too. We will need input on new classes or programs, revenue ideas, and facility improvements. We need sponsors for events and donations (by the way, your donations to the PRPD are tax-deductible!). And we also need you to have some fun, look over the classes in the catalogue and sign up online. Undoubtedly, challenges face us, but as we develop a strong financial footing and increase our capacity, we can offer our District the programs and parks that our Community desires. We are grateful for your support and we are ready to reinvigorate the PRPD to ensure that we not only survive but thrive in the coming years. - Dan Efseaff
