Dan's Kayaking Classes

About the Instructor!

Dan Efseaff is the lead instructor for Kayak in Northern California. Dan has taught kayaking since 1990. An American Canoe Association (ACA) certified instructor (ACA#10805316), Dan has led white-water and sea kayaking trips in California, Oregon, Washington, Costa Rica, British Columbia, and Baja California. He has taught hundreds of students in a variety of places and conditions. Dan has ACA certification for both whitewater kayaking and open coastal Kayaking. The classes focus on building good skills in a fun, safe, environment to give kayakers the skills so that they can emvark on a lifetime of paddling.

 

Touring Classes:

  • Kayak: Quick Start Your Kayak Workshop (QS) - Introductory session that covers essential safety practices, hazard awareness, and basic rescues.
  • Kayak: Beginning Touring - Perfect for recreational or sea kayakers, this session guides you through essential skills, safety measures, and an introduction to kayaking.
  • Kayak: Intermediate Touring / Mastering the Waves (SK2) - Introduces advanced techniques like bracing and edging, with a special focus on rescues.
  • Kayak: Touring/Sea Kayak Rescue Clinic (RC) - Learn essential rescue techniques, review safety equipment, and focus on preparation.

Sea Kayak or Eco Tours:

  • Kayak: Moonlit Paddle / Evening Serenity (MP) - Enjoy a unique blend of sunset and moonrise views on local flat waters.

Whitewater Classes:

  • Kayak: Eskimo Roll / Confidence on the Water (ERL) - Develop the crucial self-rescue skill of the Eskimo Roll in this two session class.
  • Kayak: Open Pool Practice Session (PPS) - Join our Open Pool Session to practice Eskimo rolls and sea kayak rescues.
